This morning I was scrolling through Youtube, and I stumbled upon a scene from The Amazing Spiderman 2. At the end of the movie, Spiderman loses his girlfriend to the bad guy and through his great loss, he feels as though it is time to give up on being Spiderman. As he sits in his bedroom pondering his next steps, a new villain enters New York City and begins to terrorize its citizens. While the police begin to shoot at the villain, a young boy dressed as Spiderman steps up in front of the bad guy to save the city. And that is when Spiderman turns up.
Watching this scene brought me to tears, because it brought forth something inside of me that I have known for a long time. There is a superhero in all of us. That little boy stepping up is a metaphor for each and everyone of us standing up to the fear inside of ourselves. When we can move beyond our own fears and doubts, something simply amazing happens. We become superheroes.
